There's a bit of a tradition about to start here on Heinz Evolution, or as I have just now decided to call it, Evolve, so let's get the first things first. There's something about Thursdays, and that thing on Evolve will be a post about any random subject. Updates will be done separately, and these posts will be completely self-contained and unique. Plus, they will be consistent because I actually said that they would be. Don't want to make a liar out of me, do we. And, in keeping with starting a new adventure, I had a fitting topic in mind. Come along, will you?
As you may know, I have been working for the past couple of months trying to find the home base of development for Heinz Evolution. It means a lot to me, so finding the right place was essential, but I have forged an exciting relationship with an organization whose focus is perfectly in line with many of the development goals that I have for our next platform. The University of Rochester is a place designed around a diversity of features, as evidenced by its motto Meliora, an embodiment of the ideal of diversity in development. The Heinz Experience was a powerful platform, but limited in capability; I wanted to change that with Evolution. I'm working to pack more options and capabilities in while still keeping it easy to use, and I am happy to say that after the release of the first provisional version of Heinz Evolution I will be working with Rochester to make it, in the most accurate term possible, awesome.
I have talked to a lot of first year and above college students, and I have seen a lot of material from colleges, and on of the things that is really interesting to me is the character of the undeclared freshman. The freshmen that I have talked to generally fall into two categories; the first group is made up of those who go in dedicated to one discipline (many of whom change that discipline half way through their freshman year.) In the other group fall those Undeclared freshmen, the image of a lost sheep among other, seemingly more dedicated sheep who will eventually go on to rule the surprisingly complex sheep society. Over the last four years it has been my immense pleasure to work on a project I'm sure you have heard of by now: The Heinz Experience. Now, however, the entire Heinz family will be working on a new project that will be hopefully even more dynamic than our current platform: Heinz Evolution. Through the months that remain until its release in the fall, we will be working on making sure all of you can easily make the jump to our new flagship. We will be working immensely hard to keep Heinz as grounded, fun, and relate-able as it is right now while introducing it to a whole new demographic. We have been trying to secure a location to base Heinz Evolution out of while we trim it down and continue to improve it, and the University of Rochester has thus far been open and willing to work with us and collaborate with us to support and improve our platform. As we step into this new world with us, I am going to ask each and every one of you to take my hand; I want to lead you into this new frontier to meet all of the new people that will hopefully find Heinz as useful and entertaining as you have, all while showing you that Heinz - though it may be more powerful, more intelligent, and more mature in many ways - is still the same quirky product you have come to love.
